The following is a response
from the Vermont Service Center:

"The Vermont Service Center would like the Regional Regulatory Ombudsmen to advise the designated school officials in their districts not to reply to the e-mail "request for evidence" notification issued by the SEVIS Helpdesk that is generated on I-539 reinstatement cases.  These e-mails are intended to give DSOs and the student an indication that additional evidence is needed and that a formal request for evidence will be mailed to you by USCIS; the actual request will be sent within a few weeks of the e-mail notification. In many instances, the official request for evidence issued by USCIS will contain more information than the e-mail notification.

Further, information submitted to this office with a copy of the e-mail request will not be identified correctly by our contracted Mailroom staff and will be treated as correspondence.  Please ensure that! All applicants/students reply only to official requests for evidence issued on the Form I-797 (printed on blue paper) by the Vermont Service Center."
